Chichen - Itza
is the most visited archaeological site in the peninsula of Yucatan,
Mexico, due to its extraordinary architecture beauty and its geographical
location, just a 1 day trip.
The archaeological site is divided into 3 areas:
the Northern Toltec group, the Central Early group and Old Chichen
(located far away from the other buildings and requires a guide).
The Pyramid of Kukulcan is where both theology and
astronomy, combine to produce a unique spectacle twice a year, the
Spring Equinox and the Autumn Solstice. Inside the pyramid are located
the famous Chac Mool sculpture and the Jaguar Throne. Site includes
the Marketplace, Steam Bath, Temple of the Warriors, The Ball Court
and the Temple of the Jaguars. |

Uxmal |

Uxmal is a wondrous archaeological
site to explore. The rich green fertile jungle of the Yucatan provides
a perfect setting for some of the most magnificent ancient pyramids,
building and temples of the ancient world.
The site includes the famous 120-foot high Magician's
Pyramid and the view from the summit with unforgettable views of the
entire ancient city.
The Nunnery Quadrangle was believed to have been used
for military purposes. and the Governor's Palace. |

Over looking the beautiful
turquoise Caribbean coast of Mexico and 80 miles south of Cancun,
is the small town of Tulum, best known for its archeological site.
Tulum was built during the dying days of the Mayan
empire, and was actually a fort. Stay for a day - enjoy the ruins
and then walk down to the great beaches and stunning water for sunbathing,
paddling, swimming or snorkeling. |
| Site includes El Castillo-The
Castle overlooking the coast on the cliff-edge, Templo del Dios Descendente
-Temple of the Descending God- depicting a diving figure, Templo de
los Frescos - Temple of Frescoes- dates back to the mid 1400's is
a two-story building with colorful murals on the inner wall. This
structure might be one of the last buildings built by the Maya before
the arrival of Cortez. |

Mitla |

Outside of historical Oaxaca City is Mitla,
an archaeological site was actually inhabited as early as 900 BC.
Mitla means “Place of the Dead” and
it contains the tombs of the ancient kings and priests. Best preserved
of the buildings is the Column Complex just south of the Church. Monolithic
columns supported the roof structure, and in this area enter subterranean
chambers snf tombs that were discovered in 1901 and date from Oaxaca's
post-classic period. |
